While PSCS will supply lifejackets and sunscreen, participants are asked to bring along the following:
A warm windproof and preferably waterproof jacket. Bushwalking jackets are suitable.
Warm fleecy or woollen jacket or jumper.
Polyfleece or woollen long sleeved tops and leggings are great for cooler conditions. Wool stays warm against you even if wet. Cotton is the opposite.
Hat with a tether. A broad-brimmed sailing hat with a lanyard is ideal but a baseball hat with a tether is also ideal. Tethers can be obtained from most chandleries and will certainly save the loss of a sentimental or favourite hat. Tethers are also essential for glasses or sunnies and can save many dollars. A beanie is also an essential for when the sun is not shining and its cold and wet.
Sunglasses and sunscreen. We have sunscreen at the club and will encourage you to use it but bring your own if you have a favourite.
Drinking container and water.
Sailing gloves are not essential but useful especially if you have uncalloused hands. Help keep you warm in the cooler times too. Recommended if you intend to do a bit of sailing, like crewing in club races.
Shoes should be water tolerant and non marking. Dunlop Volleys are ideal and do not cost much. wetsuit boots or reef shoes are also ideal and cheap.
Have a comfortable warm set of clothes spare in the car.
