Port Cygnet Junior Sailing
The Port Cygnet Sailing Club is again running two sail training programs in the upcoming sailing season. The Club has, in the past two years, conducted four highly successful courses with almost sixty young people participating. Held over an eight week period, these courses offer students the opportunity to learn the art of sailing as well as have a lot of fun! The first course will commence mid-October.
This ongoing training initiative provides a great opportunity for junior sporting development and has involved not only the students but also their parents in a highly effective community activity.
The course involves safety training as well as how to manoeuvre the sails and yacht, how to capsize and righten the vessel.
This seasons courses will be held over 8 weeks with the opportunity at the end of the course for the students to participate in regular racing either in the dinghies or as crew on keelboats.
